Belong. Believe. Become.

On a journey of faith by the grace of God.

City On A Hill Church began as an investigation. Back in 2008, a group of families, most of whom attended South Suburban Evangelical Free Church, got together for the purpose of investigating the possibility of starting a new Church in Rosemount. This began a process of discovering more about what the bible says is a church and at the same time growing deeper and closer with each other. Out of this period of time came a strong conviction that God was directing us to move forward with a church plant.

Leading this new endeavor was Bruce Bentley. At the time, Bruce was the Youth Pastor at South Suburban. Bruce had served as Youth Pastor there since 2002 and, at the urging of the Pastoral Staff, began his own process of prayerfully considering church planting while leading the small group described above. With the blessing of the Church, Bruce ended his role as Youth Pastor in July of 2010 and began his new role as Church Plant Pastor.

It was in the summer of 2010, that City on a Hill began meeting in small groups, what we call CityGroups, in Rosemount and nearby Eagan and Farmington. Large group worship gatherings began soon after, meeting at South Suburban. By September of 2011, our new Church began meeting weekly on Sunday mornings in the Steeple Center in downtown Rosemount. CityGroups continue to meet regularly in homes and we've added weekly ministries like CityTeens (for middle and high school students) and CityKids (for nursery age through grade school on Sunday mornings). The Steeple Center is now newly renovated, providing more opportunities for ministry on Sunday mornings.

Our history at this point is fairly brief, yet we realize with every passing week, City on a Hill makes a record of ministry history in our community. It's our desire that with everyone we come in contact with, what we believe about Christ, his bride the church, and the things we are most passionate about come across crystal clear.
